The Oval pessary, available with or without a supporting membrane, is primarily used for mild first-degree uterine prolapse and cystocele. The pessary’s shape helps to limit rotation.

Insertion

Squeeze across the narrowest diameter of the oval to compress its side bars inward, apply a water-based lubricant to the leading edge, and insert it long-axis first to follow the natural vertical orientation of the vaginal canal. Guide the posterior curve deep into the fornix and allow it to open completely so that the long axis of the device aligns with the vaginal canal and the anterior edge tucks behind the pubic symphysis, offering comfortable support for patients with narrow vaults where standard circular rings cause lateral pain.
