The Donut pessary is primarily used for second or third-degree uterine prolapse, cystocele, and rectocele. This pessary, often used by post-menopausal women, is easily compressed for insertion and removal.

Insertion

 Squeeze the thick, hollow donut firmly to collapse its central space and flatten it into a narrow oval shape, apply a water-based lubricant to the leading edge, and insert it with its long axis parallel to the vertical vulvar opening to prevent stretching the introitus. Push the device deeply into the upper third of the vaginal canal where it will spring back into its wide circular profile, relying on its sheer volume to span the vagina above the levator ani muscles to form a sturdy physical barrier against apical and uterine descent.
